The North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service in conjunction with the Caswell County Cattleman’s Association will conduct an educational meeting on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Agriculture Building in the Extension Kitchen at 6:30 p.m.

Mr. Steven Meadows from Ponchatoula, Louisiana, with a major grass seed company, will give a presentation on “Prine Tetraploid Annual Ryegrass” and “Red Ace Clover” that evening. Louisiana Tech University has completed several trials on this annual ryegrass and showed a $35 per acre return for heifers grazing in comparison with other varieties. Red Ace Clover is a medium red clover developed at Auburn University. Joey Knight, County Extension Director, will give a presentation on “Utilizing Forages the Proper Way in Cattle Operations” as well as give everyone a new weed ID booklet from Dow Agro Sciences.

This is the second Cattlemen’s Meeting for the year. We will be serving a steak supper meal that evening, therefore, if you plan on eating you will need to call the Extension Office at 336-694-4158 by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, so we can better prepare for the meal.
