Are you looking for that special gift for someone hard to buy for but loves to fish? Have you ever wanted to learn how to tie your own fly’s for fly fishing but didn’t know where to start? Have you ever wanted to learn more about fly tying but didn’t want to have to buy the equipment and materials to get started and simply didn’t know where to start? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then 4-H has a deal for you !!!

Cherokee On The Fly 4-H Club is conducting a fundraiser by selling fly-tying lessons for adults. Adults often ask our 4-H volunteer leader, Greg Charles, who has 45 years of fly-tying experience, if he has fly-tying lessons for adults. Now he can say “YES.”  Our club members and Greg will be teaching beginner adult fly-tying lessons for adults starting in January. We are selling classes for people to purchase and reserve a spot in the class. We will offer the same classes again in February.

Our 4-H Club is conducting this fundraiser to help cover the cost of materials and help to fund some of our future fishing trips. Here is the information for the classes:

Cost: $120 for 4 sessions per month either in January or in February which includes materials, equipment, and instruction.

Sessions:  January 2023: 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th (No longer taking participants for January)  Please sign up for our February lessons. February 2023: 4th, 11th,18th, & 25th

Time: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Location:  N.C. Cooperative Extension Meeting Room, 699 Conaheeta Street, Murphy, NC 28906

Number of participants per class:  8   ( A minimum of 4 participants must sign up to have class.)

Age:  18 and up (If youth are under 18 and are interested they can join the Cherokee on the Fly 4-H Club for free.)

Instructors: Greg Charles, Cherokee On The Fly 4-H Club volunteer leader;  45 years of experience with fly tying. And members of Cherokee On The Fly 4-H Club.

If the month you sign up for is full you will be put on a waiting list unless you want to participate in the other month of sessions. You will learn a new fly each session. January and February sessions will cover the same materials and flies so sign up for one or the other.

This is a fundraiser for the Cherokee On The Fly 4-H Club and the money is non-refundable and is not cash redeemable. If the minimum number of participants is not reached per class a refund will be issued. If there is bad weather to prevent the class from being held we will work with the participants to reschedule.

Registration is not complete until paid in full and postmarked or received by December 30th for the January sessions. January session were canceled due to not enough signed up for the program  February sessions must be paid in full and received or postmarked by January 20th.
