Ag Chat from 3/4/26: Free laptops and digital skills classes offered to Caswell County residents!
From our Digital Skills Agent, Tyler Cobb
A new county-wide initiative has already provided 70 free laptops and essential technology training to Caswell County households that did not currently have a computer. There are currently additional laptops available to be distributed. The Digital Skills Initiative is a collaborative effort between the North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Caswell County Government, Piedmont Community College, and the Danville Regional Foundation. The program aims to equip residents with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
Tyler Cobb, the Digital Skills Agent with NC Cooperative Extension, will teach classes. The curriculum will cover basic computer operations and practical skills.
To qualify for a free laptop, a resident must be 18 or older and must attend and complete one of the scheduled classes. Participants will also need to provide two forms of address identification to confirm Caswell County residency (e.g., a government ID and a piece of mail, or two pieces of mail). The program is limited to one device per household to maximize the number of families that can benefit.
Classes will be held at the CoSquare (106 Court Sq Yanceyville NC, 27379) in the coming weeks.
Class Schedule Saturday, March 14th 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Friday, March 20th 10:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m Space is limited and registration is required.
