Caswell County Donation Station

Caswell County farmers market

Ag Chat from 4/8/26: Caswell County Donation Station
From our Family and Consumer Science Agent, Sonya Patterson

It’s Farmers Market Time!! The 2026 Caswell County Farmers Market will be opening for the
season on Thursday, April 23 rd at the Yanceyville Pavillion from 4:00 pm-6:30 pm.
The Cooperative Extension Donation Station was a huge success at the market last year and will be returning this year. Donation Stations seek to improve access to fresh, locally-grown food while supporting the local farmers who grow it. They are designed to combat local food
insecurity while raising awareness that a healthy local food system must include every member of the community.
Donation Stations are a collaboration between the NC State Master Food Volunteer Program, the NC State Local Foods Program Team, and Steps to Health, NC State University’s SNAP-Ed Program. Locally, here in Caswell County, our Donation Station is also supported and partially
funded by the Caswell County Local Foods Council. Local food pantry volunteers help to man the Donation Station where market shoppers either donate produce or money that is used to purchase food at the market on the same day from the farmers that is then taken back to their
respective pantries and distributed to those in need. Farmers can also donate unsold food items at the end of the market.
In order for our Donation Station to be a success this year, we need your help and we are looking forward to seeing you at the market!!!
