Essential Information for Caswell Cattle Producers

The Farm Services Agency’s (FSA) Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) offers critical financial aid to livestock producers experiencing grazing losses due to qualifying drought conditions. LFP helps address the increased feed costs resulting from significant forage losses.

Who is eligible?
Eligible applicants are livestock producers who own or lease eligible grazing land or pastureland affected by qualifying drought conditions. Producers must provide verifiable documentation of losses and meet all program requirements.

Drought losses: Compensation is for private or cash-leased land in counties designated with qualifying drought severity.

Eligible livestock: Includes beef/dairy cattle, buffalo, equine, goats, sheep, alpacas, llamas, deer, elk, reindeer, ostriches, and emus, maintained for commercial use.

How to apply?
Start the process early by contacting your local FSA Office to make an appointment in the county where your land is located. You must submit several forms which are available online and at your local FSA Office.
Supporting documents that may be needed: Proof of grazing, grazing/leases permits, land ownership proof, and livestock inventory information.
